Take a closer look at high school football with a New Orleans based artist turned sports fan. This line and aquatint etching is part of Abdi Farah's Shell Series, an intimate look into the life of Crescent City's high school football scene. The portrait features a local player obscured by his helmet against a black background, bringing to mind pop culture's obsession with the physical sport as well as the uncertainty of players' futures. It's one truly unique piece that's a different take on sports-inspired art.

To further his art, Baltimore born Abdi Farah moved to New Orleans to take up a year-long residency for the St. Roch Community Church. In 2010 he won a televised artist competition and was awarded his first solo exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. He has since been featured at the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, and more.
