Cook a steak at chophouse temperatures from the comfort of your backyard.

Some guys in Germany just discovered the secret to a chophouse-quality steak: 1500°F. That's the temperature that creates the perfect crust while keeping the interior juicy, perfectly medium rare, and without any gray banding in sight (which happens when you sear for too long at too low of a temp).

But reaching 1500°F is no easy feat. Typical charcoal grills can only get up to 700°F, with gas grills stopping even shorter. That's where high-performance, propane-powered ceramic heating elements come in. The Beefer mounts them up top, acting like a stainless-steel broiler—but a whole lot hotter.

Set the Beefer up outside and start feeding it some gas. The ceramic gets up to speed in about five minutes—that's when you slide in your cut—then you've about another five until your steak is seared and ready. Adjust the grate height to dial in your cook, and don't worry about drippings—they're being collected in a removable tray for you to use in some killer sauces later.
