Bruce Springsteen
Bruce Springsteen was born in New Jersey in 1949 and has carried that hometown spirit with him throughout his career. He joined a band in 1965, the first in a long line of short-lived groups. Springsteen eventually went solo, was signed by Columbia Records, and assembled a band out of members of other groups he'd played with during his earlier years. It was then that Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band began recording. After millions of copies sold, hard twists and turns in the band formation and in their personal lives, many top 10 singles, and a multitude of hit records, Springsteen is an essential stalwart of American music history. He's also a Grammy winning artist and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999 by Bono (himself inducted in 2005).
