Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong
Famous for her precise intonation and versatility, Ella Fitzgerald was the legendary voice behind more than four decades' worth of now-standard jazz recordings. Equally legendary was Fitzgerald's peer and fellow jazzer, Louis Armstrong, who was a forefather of jazz trumpet and cornet mastery from his early start in the 20s all the way up to the 60s. They collaborated on a series of three albums throughout the 50s: Ella and Louie in 1956, Ella and Louie Again in 1957, and 1959's Porgy and Bess.
