Ilegal Mezcal doesn't mess around with their spirits. The operation was born out of a tiny bar in Guatemala called Café No Sé, and their stuff hails from remote, rural stretches of Mexico with traditional production. And no, the name isn't just for show — the owner used to smuggle mezcal from Mexico to Guatemala past cops, soldiers, gangs, and thieves to get it home safe and sound. Once, he even dressed up as a priest to throw off the cops — true story.
