In 1971, Jim Lea, Neil Anderson, and John Burroughs experienced a fortuitous mix of circumstances, including unemployment, a leaky foam gardening pad, and a dream. Their combined efforts produced the Therm-a-Rest, the world's first self-inflating air mattress, improving sleeping conditions for outdoor adventurers the world over.
