Moon 1966 3D Raised Relief Map

A raised relief map for lunar tactile exploration

Created from a flat piece of paper, this moon is transformed by Muir Way into a 3D raised relief map in their San Diego workshop. To create this unique piece, documents from the original landing plans done by NASA and the Department of Defense in 1966 were scanned and combined with modern elevation data to align the raised terrain to a detailed mold. Then each map gets printed, heated, and vacuum-formed to the mold for a colorful piece of decor that allows you to visually and tactilely explore the moon’s surface and many craters.
