It's easy to forget that NASA does other things other than send folks into space. But during WWII, much of their focus was actually on the fighter planes that fought over Europe and the Pacific, like the P-51 Mustang. This archival-ink giclée print depicts one being tested for aerodynamics and safety in the full-scale wind tunnel at NASA's Langley Research Center before being shipped off for war. We wouldn't want anything to go wrong at 5,000 feet, now would we?
