Take it from us, this 25th anniversary vinyl edition of Graceland does justice to the iconic 1986 release. Paul Simon had become songwriting royalty at this point through his work in Simon and Garfunkel. His solo career been a success, too, but not in the early 80s; Graceland's predecessor Hearts and Bones had been a commercial flop. What Graceland did was remind the music world that Paul Simon was still very much in his prime and ready to experiment, even, with career-best results. He did it in part by combining his signature tenor with a South African style of music called mbaqanga, showcased nicely on the one Paul Simon song you know if you only know one Paul Simon song: "Diamonds on the Soles Of Her Shoes". Graceland took hold quickly among fans and critics, earning 16 million worldwide sales, a Brit Award for Best International Solo Artist, and a spot in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
