Japanese Axe
Sharp enough.
Given how good-looking, it's easy to forget that this beautiful axe is actually meant for chopping wood. The hand-crafted design is built according to Japanese tradition with a hand-forged steel blade and a solid wood handle to hold onto, and it also includes a custom leather sheath for protection between uses. But don't let its beauty fool you. It's as functional as it is attractive, and it's the last thing your firewood will see before you split it down the center.

- Due to shipping regulations, we unfortunately can't ship this item to customers in Canada at this time. Our apologies.
Because of the unique climate conditions and humidity of Japan, Snow Peak ship with the head only provisionally attached to the oak handle. To ensure a tight and long-lasting fit:
- Let the wood acclimatize for at least one week in the area where the axe will be stored and used.
- Place your axe head on a sturdy work surface, and use a wooden mallet to drive the shaft into the head past the point where it's flush with the top of the head. It should stick out at least 5 - 10 mm.
- Lastly and importantly, drive the metal wedge at the top of the axe in as close to flush as possible.
Keep in a dry place to prevent rusting. Ensure the head is dry and when storing. If storing for long periods, grease the head with oil. Do not use the axe or hatchet to drive in a wedge or as a wedge as they are not designed to be used in this way. If used for pounding or used as a wedge, the blade will be deformed or broken.
