Since 2012, Alfred Lane has edited down a ridiculous range of scents and ingredients into a unique blend that makes up their solid cologne. That's right, solid: rather than being a spray, this is a highly concentrated wax that you swirl onto your skin, no glass bottles necessary.
The stuff is packed with beeswax, jojoba oil, shea butter, and aromatic fragrances, all sourced within the US, with the final product being produced in Chicago.
The cologne is all handcrafted in small batches. A double boiler blends the carefully weighed ingredients together, then poured into tin cans to cool and solidify. Then it's all tested to make sure it's got the right soft, balm-like feel that easily rubs into the skin.
There are three unique versions, each with a different scent:
Brio is a mossy, woody fragrance, musky and warm with a blend of vetiver and spicy top notes.
Vanguard is a spicy, sweet fragrance, refreshing and fresh, with a fruity blend of sweet spice and woods.
Bravado is a woodsy, oriental scent, seductive and complex, with spicy notes of nutmeg, sandalwood, leather and tobacco.
Once you've got the final product, swirl your finger on the cologne and rub it on your wrists, behind your ears, and neck — then get ready for a whole lot of up-close attention.
