I walked into SeaVees HQ in Santa Barbara with a sketch in my pocket.

A few months prior, we'd started chatting with founder Steven Tiller and his team about telling his brand's story right here on our Field Guide, and as a part of the project we had penciled in some plans for SeaVees and Bespoke Post to create a shoe together. One evening after work, after the team had wrapped its art direction and planning for our shoot, I started drawing in my notebook. At this point, we were well familiar with SeaVees' Mammoth and Mariner boots—what manifested in my notebook turned out looking a lot like a marriage of the two, and so when we walked through the doors at HQ that spring morning, we felt like we had something that would resonate with Tiller, inspired by design his team has created.

After our interview, we got to talking with Tiller about what we had in mind. We showed him our sketch, assured him I was an amateur artist in that regard, and it wasn't long before we were flipping through swatches and talking about material durability. We walked out with his verbal approval and got to work on a less amateur rendering.

Ok well, a little less. That sketch then became a digital drawing, which led to a discussion with the SeaVees design team that traded my suggestion of pig suede for water-resistant leather, removed a back tab, added an extra pair of laces and an embossed Bespoke Post logomark on the heel. Sooner or later, all we needed was a name.

That's how The Sierra Adventure boot, a silhouette you can only get at Bespoke Post and SeaVees, was born. Our goal all along was to make a boot that wasn't necessarily built for intense adventures, but looked like it. We wanted something durable enough for everyday wear and that had a rugged aesthetic, but not so technical that you couldn't pair it with jeans and a tee and wear them to the office.

We achieved that through silhouette and mixed material. A Ventile canvas quarter juxtaposed with brown water resistent leather. A lug outsole with gum wrap-up foxing. And a little extra steez by way of an extra pair of laces in a classic yellow hiking style. It all came together, thanks to the shoe-building geniuses at SeaVees, in a multi-use boot that customers will find familiar due to its SeaVees pedigree, but extra exciting due to its design nuances.
