Moscow Mule Recipes With a Twist

Once you master the basics, move onto these punchy takes on the classic cocktail.

There's not much better than a tart, spicy, and extra cold Moscow Mule on a summer day. But don't stop there — mix up the classic, then move onto some bolder variations that add a hit of fruit flavor.

Moscow Mule

  • 1 ½ oz Smirnoff No. 21 vodka
  • ¾ oz ginger syrup
  • Juice from half a lime
  • 6 oz club soda

Add the vodka, ginger syrup, and lime juice to a mug. Add crushed ice, stir, and top with club soda. Garnish with lime slices and mint sprigs.



Motown Mule

  • 1 ½ oz Smirnoff No. 21 vodka
  • ¾ oz ginger syrup
  • 2 tart cherries
  • 6 oz club soda

In a mug, muddle the cherries with the ginger syrup, then add vodka and stir. Add crushed ice, stir again, and top with club soda. Garnish with extra cherries and mint sprigs.


Black Apple Mule

  • 1 ½ oz Smirnoff No. 21 vodka
  • ¾ oz ginger syrup
  • Juice from half a lime
  • 6 oz club soda
  • 2 dashes black walnut bitters
  • ½ cup diced apple

In a mixing tin, muddle the diced apple with the ginger syrup and bitters. Add the lime juice, then use the tin to shake it all together. Add vodka and shake again. Strain into a copper mug, then add crushed ice and top with club soda. Garnish with extra apple slices and mint sprigs.
