Dr. Dre
It's tough to pick out the most iconic member to come out of gangsta rap's forefathers, N.W.A. You could make a case for Dre, though, based on the sheer amount of music he's produced (and pop culture he's affected) since breaking out in 1980s Los Angeles. From rapper to producer to mogul, Dre's mostly beat-making mark on the hip-hop world can be felt in work from Blackstreet to Snoop Dogg, Eminem to Kendrick Lamar, the Game to Jay-Z, and whole bunch more. The list could fill books, movies, and documentaries, which it has – notably, Straight Outta Compton and The Defiant Ones.
