Jan Antonín Baťa opened Novesta in the middle of Slovakia in the 1930s to make long-lasting handmade footwear. To this day, Novesta is one of the last European brands to remain operating in its original premises, working by traditional methods on old-fashioned machines that require a great deal of precise handwork.
