A folding pocket knife that's been in steady use since 1890 and still made in France. Joseph Opinel built the No. 08 as a simple, sharp, durable everyday tool - and 130+ years later, the design hasn't needed updating. Razor-sharp stainless steel blade, hornbeam varnished handle, and a thin leather lanyard for clipping to a bag or belt loop.

What people notice the moment they pick one up: the Virobloc safety lock ring. It's a small metal collar at the base of the blade that twists to lock the knife open while you're using it, and lock it shut when you're not. Marcel Opinel invented it in 1955, and it's still the simplest folding-knife lock around. No springs, no buttons, no failure points - just a quarter-turn that keeps the blade where you want it.
